Crazy, but in a good way.
Roy, on D&D Online:
I think their whole free to play thing backfired hardcore. Yes, a lot of new people are playing. But for how long? F2Pers are largely confined to the fail quests, which does not motivate them to pay so they can get to the good stuff. The old system of a 10 day trial works much better for this, then you can get up to level 10-12 or so playing whatever you want, getting a fairer representation of the game instead of walking away thinking it is even more narrow than it actually is.
For fuck's sake, this game is practically MADE for you guys, and none of you like it. I consider that a strong mark against F2P that it is capable of even driving away its target audience. Chances are if I had joined after the whole F2P thing I'd have came to the same conclusion. Even though I did not the flaws are still very obvious and it is also very obvious that the fast pace is the only thing maintaining the appeal... which given that 'Play our way or we'll make you' means 'slow the fuck down'... yeah.
Nice job breaking it hero.
There's clearly some new players around, but not nearly as many are staying.
Хм. А я-то думал, что народ до неприличия падок на халяву. Сравнительно бесплатный проект и сравнительно качественный проект может не приносить прибыль, но не иметь достаточно потребителей? Вопрос требует дальнейшего изучения.
