1) the girl is actually a crazy powered wizard. Everyone else doesn't stand a chance vs. the meteor, so they are very much within their rights to scream, despair, enjoy life and accept that without supernatural aid they're fucked fair and square.
2) if you ignore the comic and view the strip as a standalone work, the girl is as fucked as anyone else. Do what you will, it won't matter. EVAR. Srsly.
